PALM DESERT, CA – A Coachella Valley Water District contractor is installing a new non-potable water line and paving along Eldorado Drive in Palm Desert for turf irrigation at four additional golf courses in the city, and motorists will experience traffic delays in the area, CVWD announced Friday.
Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in March. During this time, the southbound lanes of Eldorado Drive will be closed; the closures are marked and southbound traffic will be redirected to northbound lanes where one lane will be open in each direction, according to CVWD.
The project will connect four other golf courses – Bermuda Dunes Country Club, Oasis Country Club, Palm Desert Resort Country Club and Woodhaven Country Club – to the new non-potable water line for irrigation.
“This will allow the courses to reduce their reliance on groundwater for turf irrigation using NPW which includes channel water and reclaimed water, help prevent aquifer overdraft and increase CVWD capacity. to balance water supply with demand,” according to CVWD.
Construction will move west along Hovley Lane East and is expected to reach CVWD’s largest water reclamation facility on Cook Street in May, according to the water district.
