Best Golf Courses – The number of golfers on fairways across Europe and beyond has increased during the pandemic and many of us have a greater appreciation for the quality and beauty of the courses we play on. Here we run through some of the best courses we’ve covered this year at home and abroad.

Royal County Down tops Golf Monthly’s Top 100 rankings

Golf Monthly has published the highly respected Top 100 Golf Courses in the UK and Ireland 2021/22. Once again we have played, reviewed and ranked the top 100 golf courses in the UK and Ireland and there have been some interesting players.
The superb courses at Royal County Down in Newcastle on the County Down coast have risen to number 1 on Golf Monthly’s Top 100 list for the first time in the UK & Ireland. RCD is one of the most photographed courses in the world and recent changes, including new bunkers and new championship tees on the 12th and 16th holes, mean it now represents the pinnacle of golf quality on these islands.

Dumbarnie Links entered the Top 100 straight at number 40, a tremendous addition to the wealth of golfing opportunities on the Fife coast. And with the opening of a new clubhouse, the offer in Dumbarnie has been further enhanced.
