Lexington Marriott Griffin Gate Golf Resort and Spa completes $30 million renovation

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Lexington Marriott Griffin Gate Golf Resort and Spa has completed the $30 million renovations it began in June 2020.

In a press release, the resort confirmed that the renovations were complete on November 15, 2021. The full renovation included nearly every space in the property. Renovations to guest rooms, presidential suites, conference and meeting rooms, lobby areas, as well as the main entrance, atrium, spa, outdoor pool, fitness center, golf club, restaurant and restrooms.

The resort also added three pickleball courts and a Lex Cafe, which serves Starbucks and small bites in the lobby.

“We are so excited about the final renovations that our plan was to reposition this historic property as the premier hotel and resort in the Bluegrass region,” Chuck Pomerantz, Highline’s managing partner, said in a press release. “I think the guest experience will be overwhelmingly positive and I’m confident this newly renovated property will continue to attract business and leisure travelers for decades to come.”

The new entrance and valet area is now called the “Champion’s Circle” which features triple crowned horses from Lexington area horse farms dating back to 1917.

The resort has also renamed the seventh-floor suites, which now bear the names of the region’s most distinguished horse farms:

  • Keeneland
  • Hamburg Square
  • poplar hill
  • Walmac
  • mandyland
  • Ashford

“We are thrilled to finally introduce the area’s first resort to our guests,” said Andrew Labetti, general manager of the Lexington Marriott Griffin Gate, in a press release. “We encourage everyone to come see and enjoy our reimagined property as we continue to deliver a premier experience and be the hotel of choice for your home away from home.”
