While Rockland Golf Club is often the first Midcoast course to welcome players back to the links in the spring — the course first launched it on Sunday, April 3 — other Midcoast tracks, despite heavy recent rains and wet conditions, continue to follow and prepare opening dates quickly.
Of all the public and private courses in the region, the majority of them are scheduled to open on Friday, April 15.
The Goose River Golf Club in Rockport is scheduled to open tentatively on Friday, April 15. Greens fees through May 30 are $25 for nine holes and $35 for 18 holes, while cart rentals for nine holes are $15 per seat and $20 for 18 holes. Pull carts are $10.
The Rockland Golf Club opened its doors on Sunday, April 3. Greens fee is $35 walking nine holes; $53 new horse; $55 walk 18; and $85 at horse 18.
The Samoset Resort Golf Club in Rockport is tentatively scheduled to open on Sunday, May 1. Green fees until June 12 (cart fees included) are $65 for nine holes, $95 for 18 holes and $45 for junior golfers.
Northport Golf Club is tentatively scheduled to open on Friday, April 15. Green fees are $30 for nine holes and $40 for 18 holes, while cart rentals for nine holes cost $12.50 per seat and $25 per seat for 18 holes.
Country View Golf Club in Brooks is scheduled to open tentatively on Friday, April 15. Green fees are $15 for nine holes ($25 with cart), $25 for 18 holes ($40 with cart), $40 for 27 holes ($55 with cart) and $50 for 36 holes ($70 with cart).
The opening of the West Appleton Country Club is tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 15. Green fees are $16 for nine holes and $26 for 18 holes. Carts are $20 for nine holes and $30 for 18 holes.
North Haven Golf Club, a semi-private course, is tentatively set to open on Sunday May 1. The cost is $50 for 18 holes and $70 for the whole day. Cart rentals are $20 per nine holes.
Union Golf Club, a private course, “is scheduled to open as soon as conditions permit, hopefully by April 15,” said Union Golf Club President Jim Murphy Jr. “When the flags are on the green, we are open.” Green fees are $15 for 18 holes, but guests must play with a member.
Attempts to contact Megunticook Golf Club in Rockport and Tarratine Golf Club in Islesboro, private clubs, were unsuccessful.
