Pure Leisure Group has received permission to build Larbreck Golf and Leisure Village, a project comprising 495 holiday lodges, a 102-bedroom hotel and a nine-hole golf course on 166 acres off Garstang Road in the east of Poulton-le-Fylde.
Redevelopment of the site, close to Windy Harbor Holiday Park, has been underway for over 30 years.
In 1990, master plans for an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, a 120-room hotel and 40 timeshare units were approved. However, plans did not advance.
An updated version of these plans was then approved in 2003 and preliminary work was carried out.
Pure Leisure Group’s scheme, approved just before Christmas, includes nearly 500 holiday lodges, 340 east of Windy Harbor Road and 155 to the west.
The golf course, designed by Westenborg Golf Course Architects, would feature nine greens with varying tee positions allowing golfers to play nine or 18 holes.
The hotel would offer more than 100 rooms spread over four floors. Next to the hotel, a £12 million leisure center including a gym and swimming pool is on offer.
Pure Leisure, run by John Morphet, operates 16 holiday parks across the country, and Larbreck Golf and Leisure Village could add up to £2.5million each year to the local economy, the developer claims.
