Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa has appointed Chef Edgar Maldonado as its new Executive Chef.
Chef Maldonado will oversee the culinary operations of the resort’s seven restaurants as well as banquets. He has over 27 years of restaurant experience, 16 of which with Marriott International. During his distinguished culinary career in hospitality, he has worked with major convention hotels, luxury brand properties and returns to the Sawgrass Marriott where he previously served as Senior Sous Chef.
He developed his culinary style under the guidance of some of the country’s top chefs, including James Beard Award winner Melissa Kelly.
Chef Maldonado likes to use his culinary creativity to mix Latin American influences inspired by his childhood in Venezuela with classic offerings in the United States to create his own flavor profiles, textures and appealing presentations.
The resort offers seven award-winning dining destinations ranging from beachfront eateries to upscale eateries. The resort’s signature restaurant, Vernon’s First Coast Kitchen & Bar, offers a farm-to-table menu and was awarded the OpenTable Diner’s Choice Award as well as the Florida Historic Coast People’s Choice Award.
