Golf courses

Golf courses, fitness and driving experiences get you moving in the desert

Take the wheel.

Experience the power of the BMW M Series or the handling capabilities of a Mini at BMW Performance Center in Thermal, minutes from Coachella and La Quinta. The twisty road course is designed to push any vehicle to the brink with flat straights and grueling hairpin turns. If off-roading is more your style, hire a 4×4 from Steve’s ATV Rental in thermal.

Sharpen your game.

You will find top-of-the-range training balls on The Golf Center in Palm Desert, a large driving range in the heart of the city lit up for night games. Renovated in 2019, the facility has chipping greens, a practice bunker and putting green, as well as a nine-hole par-3 course. University Golf Center, located at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, is the only local beach that is not connected to a course; it is also illuminated after sunset. Both centers offer courses.

Safety first

In summer, average temperatures exceed 100 degrees. So what’s the best way to stay safe and cool while enjoying the outdoors?

“Start early! Morning temperatures are pleasant, so plan your outdoor activities for around 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and drink plenty of water. Leave the afternoon hours for the pool or the many fascinating indoor activities available in The valley.”
