Pheasant Glen Golf Resort begins construction on major project – Parksville Qualicum Beach News

Pheasant Glen Golf Resort hosted the “Golden Shovel, Ground-Breaking Ceremony” on Monday, September 26 to officially kick off construction of the first phase of the Qualicum Beach mixed-use resort community.

Qualicum Beach Mayor Brian Wiese and Councilors Scott Harrison and Teunis Westbroek, along with former councilors Bill Luhtmeijer, Mary Brouilette and Dave Willie and former MP Michelle Stilwell were on hand to help celebrate the occasion.

“Today was especially meaningful to our family and our community,” said Craig Dutton, representing the Dutton family. “We are incredibly grateful and happy to see this vision and dream come to fruition after an even more incredible journey to the finish line. We are excited to begin construction on Phase 1, including a new lodge, a 40 bedroom seam and 100 units of cabins, chalets and condos.

Golf course owner Bill Dutton has been dedicated to the project for over two decades and couldn’t be happier with this milestone.

“Today crowns a dream and a vision my wife, I and my family have had for 26 years to create a great golf course and golf community in Qualicum Beach,” Bill said. “We are proud of our championship course and our golf academy. Thank you for your support. I hope to celebrate with all of you at our grand opening.

Mayor Wiese also expressed his joy at the achievement.

“I’m really happy that our current council has gotten this project across the finish line,” Wiese said, adding “the benefits to our city are many – such as strata terms which will mean no cost to the city for roadwork or lights – and $450,000 goes to local affordable housing.

With construction now underway, Pheasant Glen has engaged JEA Anderson as engineers for the project; Nanimo’s Windley Construction as contractor; MacDonald Gray as project consultants; and DHK of Nanaimo as architects.

The construction of the complex will include a new pavilion, restaurant/brasserie, swimming pool, meeting rooms, confectionery, spa, outdoor leisure facilities, cycle paths, walking and hiking trails connected to the network of trails from the town of Qualicum Beach.
