The Best Royal Golf Courses in the UK |

It is a rare honor for a golf club to be granted “royal” status, a position that is usually bestowed by a reigning monarch after the club has applied for status or invited a member of the royal family to be a patron or an honorary member. .

There are numerous Royal Golf Clubs scattered across the planet, many of which are home to the best courses, including the vast majority of venues used as part of The Open Championship spin.

We studied the Golf course section to identify the leader top 25 in the UKranking them by their GS rating, which is based on reviews submitted by everyday golfers.

We have not considered the most famous of the group – The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews – as this institution does not own any of the nearby courses, including the legendary Old Course, which are instead run by the St Andrews Links Trust. Likewise, the Royal Montrose Mercantile Golf Club just playing Montrose Golf Links rather than owning it. The Royal Perth Golfing Society & County and City Club also does not have its own background, being based in the North Inch Municipality, with Epping Royal Forest Golf Club being another similar case.

Outside the UK there are many other ‘royal’ clubs, including royal melbourne, Royal Montrealand royal dublin.

If you can’t meet royalty then why not play on a royal golf course instead!
