The rich get richer and play golf. That’s not necessarily how the old cliché goes, but for the purposes of this article, it works perfectly. Some golf courses are not only luxurious, but decadent with their magnificent greens, five-star restaurants, fantastic hotels and exclusive memberships.

Some of the best golf courses in the United States have increased their prices in recent years. If you’re looking for a new golf course to play and explore, and price isn’t an issue, book a tee time at one of these gems.

  1. Kapalua Planting Course – Maui, HI

Although it may not be the most expensive golf course to play, the Kapalua Plantation Course is one of the most magnificent you will ever see. Kapalua is located in Hawaii and offers a great escape for any player from mainland America. The Kapalua Resort is the home of the PGA Tournament of Champions Sentry. The tournament is played on this incredible course which costs only $395. If you stay at the resort, you’ll save $30 on your green fee. There is also the Bay Course at Kapalua Resort. Opened in 1895, Pinehurst No. 2 has been beating budding golfers for over 100 years. The legendary golf course is one of the most beautiful in the world. Its beauty is only negated by the difficult par-3 17e hole. Yes, Pinehurst is a thing of unparalleled beauty. It is the centerpiece of Pinehurst Golf Club, which has nine courses in total. You can spend an entire week at the golf club and not play all of its courses. The price to play No. 2 differs throughout the year. During peak season, you should be able to play for $460.

Located in North Central America, Whistling Straits has become a popular course for avid golfers. It is located on the shores of Lake Michigan, which offers eerie weather throughout the year. Since its inception in 1998, Whistling Straits has become a popular stop on the PGA Tour. In 2021, the walk-only golf course charged $485 per round during peak season.

There are 10 lodges and 700 hotel rooms on site. A round of golf will set you back around $495, but prices are lower at different times of the year. You can only book a round of golf 30 days in advance.

If you prefer to go during the low season from March to April or November, you can get a round of golf for just $365. One of the coolest things about the Greenbrier Resort is the Cold War-era bunker underneath the hotel. It was built because the resort was a popular place for American presidents to visit.
